I have long admired the matchbox art work of Kim Welling. She calls them The Instant Comfort Pocket Box and they come in all sorts of styles in her etsy shop. You can learn all about her at her website: http://www.kimwelling.com/
I wanted to do something like that with my after school group. We did not have any match boxes handy so we improvised.
I gave the students squares of card stock (an art room donation). Using the docucam, I showed them how to measure and make lines so they could form a box. Once they drew the lines, they cut into the corners and folded and glued to make the little boxes. They created little scenes using greeting cards and cut paper.
